Senior Computer Specialist

Miriam Sosa is a data wrangler and information manager, helping share data across the Alliance and capture the essential work done for children and families in the state of Washington. She also works to clean, analyze, and visualize data to monitor key performance indicators.

Prior to joining the Alliance Ms. Sosa served as a Database Administrator for the Albuquerque Area Indian Health Board, where she began as a Public Health Associate for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). For six years she designed and maintained  public health surveillance systems across the Southwest, in collaboration with tribes, departments of health, and the CDC. Notably, Ms. Sosa designed a COVID-19 tracking and contact tracing toolkit to track COVID-19 cases and their close contacts for tribes across New Mexico. Ms. Sosa holds a B.S. in Health Education from San Francisco State University. 

Ms. Sosa  was born and raised in Oxnard, California, where her family immigrated from Oaxaca, Mexico. Her family’s Mexico-US migration can be traced to the Bracero Program, where Ms. Sosa’s grandfather was a seasonal migrant worker, picking fruit across the West Coast, including Washington state. Ms. Sosa is passionate about advancing solutions for children and families. She began her professional career as a counselor at a women’s domestic violence shelter in San Francisco.
