Charissa is the Event Planner at the Alliance. She helps to lead the efforts in planning and executing conferences for the Department of Youth, Children and Families (DCYF). Charissa brings enthusiasm, organization, and communication to pin down events. Charissa also assists the Alliance CaRES staff to promote informative and inspirational social media to caregivers across the state.
She recently graduated with honors in 2021 with a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell. She also attained a certificate in Professional Technical Writing from the University of Washington.
Charissa came to the Alliance in September of 2020. She loves that everyone in the Alliance encourages each other and gives positive feedback. Charissa also enjoys the reward of working to help other people in need. In November 2021, Charissa received the Alliance “Outstanding Newcomer Award” for successfully putting on two large events in an abbreviated time and learning new applications on the fly.
Originally from the Bay Area, Charissa has been in Seattle for 8 years and she appreciates that the PNW offers a mountain range in every direction and a close drive to Portland and B.C. Charissa enjoys exploring the outdoors on hikes and backpacking with her partner. She is into physical fitness and part of two high intensity interval training and weightlifting groups. You can catch Charissa checking out the local Seattle scene of food, shows, and events. At home, she is usually cooking new recipes, or playing hide and seek with her cat.
