Charina has 9 years of experience with Children’s Administration and began with the agency as an Afterhours staff.  She most recently worked as Supervisor for Children’s Administration supervising Child and Family Welfare Services (CFWS), Child Protective Services (CPS), Family Assessment Response (FAR), Family Reconciliation Services (FRS), Indian Child Welfare (ICW) and other specialty programs. Prior, she was Social & Health Program Consultant in the Family to Family Program, and a CPS and CFWS social worker in ICW.

Charina served as a co-chair for the Eastern Washington Racial Disproportionality Advisory Team for several years. This committee was in response to a 2007 legislative mandate and has made several strides in addressing racial disproportionality within public child welfare. Charina has also served as a Practice Model Site Consultant for the Spokane Office providing support to supervisors to strengthen competency in ensuring solution-based casework was implemented. She was a trainer for the prejudice reduction workshop, Building Bridges and presently a qualified administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory. Charina was appointed as a member of the Children’s Justice Task Force in January 2015. In her various roles, Charina has learned the importance of mentoring and coaching, and the impact it has on moving systems and agencies forward.

Charina received her B.A. from Washington State University and earned her MSW from Eastern Washington University 2010.
