From the Executive Director

I am always proud of the work we do at The Alliance, but this year I have been impressed, inspired and humbled.

The volume and quality of what we have produced leaves me in awe. And the collaborative spirit in which it was done reminds me of why I wanted to lead this organization.

We not only launched the redesign of both of our foundational flagship curricula, Workforce Core and Caregiver Core, but we also developed an astounding 37 additional trainings. I saw dedication and drive from staff across our organization while we are still reeling from the reduction of four positions.

We prioritized meaningful engagement from across our audiences through courses that highlight marginalized communities and Tribal partners, and with conferences that bring forward perspectives and ideas that impact practice and spirit.

I have also been beyond moved at how we continued to show up for each other as humans first. In May, we lost a beloved colleague, Vanessa Matthews, after a long illness. The joy and enthusiasm with which she approached her work is something we hold dear and continue to celebrate, while also acknowledging the deep sadness this loss has brought to so many of us. That’s what this work is about at its heart: holding space for challenges and grief while not losing sight of what brought us here to begin with.

In this light, I am so grateful for the relationships that I see continue to evolve and grow, whether my own or my colleagues’, between The Alliance and our partners. The deep impact we are making would not be possible without all of us working together.
